Where is the democracy?
You know they say that life often imitates art (or is it art often imitates life?) never the less, I am a firm believer that if you talk to a man and he blatantly disrespects you then you may have a conflict. Or if you go him man-to-man or to his country to express your feelings about his policies and the way his government is behaving (buy supporting terrorism) then maybe he’ll listen to the concerns of the global community. The rest of the world has seen that the U.S. and its allies don’t have to be accountable for their actions. This has endangered our goal of becoming a civilized society because we keep starting wars in countries that are trying to rebuild and this causes these countries to regress instead of progress (For example, Lebanon and Beirut…)
We would like to believe that the struggle for civil rights is over and that all are treated equally in our society but we are not. So how can we ask people in another country to listen to the United States’ flawed view of the world? Here in this country we have yet to receive an apology for slavery or at the very least an explanation for slavery. Can you think of one reason the government has not gave an explanation about slavery? The rest of the world still sees this as a slap in the face that the greatest travesty known to man has gone unexplained and almost just a faded memory when just 45-50 years ago minorities didn’t even have the right to vote in America.
Now we have grown to be a better more tolerant country but we still have lapses in what this country stands for which brings us to the issue of immigration which can only be described as major B.S! How can a country founded on this very principle be against the fabric of it very being? Let’s just say that there are 10 million immigrants in the country (just a hypothetical number) and 8.5 million came here to find a new job, practice their religious freedom or get an education. How can we turn them away just because there are a few bad seeds spread out amongst them? Instead, we should be focusing on plans to use this newly untapped resource to help with our deteriorating infrastructure. In just the Bay Area alone we need workers to build the Bart extension or what about more schools geared toward helping our students become bi-lingual. Have you noticed that our U.S. Armed Services is in a shortage of qualified men and women so why not implement a mandatory two year term of service in the military for a lifetime of citizenship. If there is one thing I have noticed about the recent explosion of immigration is that small mom-and-pop shops, larger chain stores and businesses are profiting and are able to cater to their surrounding community. Hey, in America the only color that matters is green so no matter what race, color, or creed they come with the prospects of just making a better life for themselves and their families or at least have the freedom to do so… isn’t that the American dream?

-Here in lies the rub. This is the reason I have grown up declared the open season target for "people of color's" bitter bile and hate stewed by fomenting, fueling, hashing and rehashing old hurts. Here's the reason for why it doesn't matter how truly good of a person I am and how hard I and my mother before me worked against "white racism", to do the right thing, to counter the injustice that is within my reach. I am met with a constant, ceaseless, and daily barrage of insults, epithets, slurs, false accusations, general outright hostility and manipulative games based out of misguided and misdirected retaliation.
It doesn't matter that I am not racist, that I was raised to believe in the multicultural ideal of America, or that my family came to this country as peasants long after the end of slavery and the treaty of Hidalgo (although, at times I almost do wish that I was the descendant of racist "whites", because then I could accept the racist persecution of which I am constantly on the receiving end).
It doesn't seem to matter to "people of color" that I have "non-white" ancestry because they can't tell that by my looks. I find it funny that I met a guy who was half Korean (and is taken as Asian and thus a "person of color") who told me he did research on his family and found out that through his father's side he is descended from a plantation owner in the slavery days of the South, but nobody condemns him because he's a "person of color"
I hope somebody from your misguided lot reads this comment and starts figuring out that "people of color" are just as bad as "white people" or maybe I should say just as good.
By the way, America is not what it was like 50 years ago and that is because millions of "whites" were not racist and helped to stop the injustice. Yes, there's a long road to go but your racism is not helping.

- The answer to the world's poverty is not to ceaselessly bring millions and millions of human beings in to the United States year in and year out.
It's not a viable plan and if you worked on remedying yourself of your racism against "whites" as "whites" in America have been working for decades to weed out the "white" racists in the population, you'd realize that.
We can't bring all 6 billion people on the planet in to one country. At some point we have to figure out a workable solution to the exploding human population and narrowing the gap between rich and poor. That can never happen until people work to knit their cultures together to create unity (humans started out as one and someday we'll all be one again -- I bet that one just burns you up).
But, as it stands right now we are in the cycle of our human evolution where the "people of color" are hell bent for revenge against "white" people who don't deserve it (I agree there are some that do-and the "dubya" is one of them-but not the majority).
